let me ask you a question. do you like the rock and the roll? im assuming you do cause your visiting this joint, but really do you love it? i do! otherwise i wouldnt be going on 7 years of running this place. with the interrogation out of the way, i gotta rock n’ roll record for ya that wont disappoint, at all. in fact, this record has been buzzin in my ears for the past week or so, and continue to be impressed with each listen. the record that i speak of is wess floyd’s foxhole confessions.
honestly, mr floyd’s not re-inventing the wheel here, but goddammit when rock n’ roll is put in the right hands, and wess exceeds in every department. mr floyd’s lyrical ability is solid, very much in the vein of westerberg, finn and maybe todd snider – all very good company, imo, and his voice gives it that every man appeal, much like the above mentioned artists. lots of songs about drinking, loving, losing, generally debauchery, music, etc. you know, the shit that make the best rock songs. wess co-produced the record, was engineered by chris grangier (wilco’s summerteeth,) glossary’s bingham barnes played all the bass parts and playing the lead is chris decker. cannot recommend it enough… if it had come out this year, it definitely would be a best of 2012 contender.
you can pick it up cd or digitally via cd baby
