my life is full of time wasters, both good, bad and awesome. an example of a bad time waster would be playing tyson’s punch out throughout the day, but its also a bad awesome. it gets confusing i know. anyway, i appreciate when time wasters are also awesomely helpful, cause lord knows i need it, help that is. an example of an awesomely helpful timewaster is songkick, which just happened to come out of beta today. songkick, amongst other things, is an amazing past, present and future concert tracker. since i have been using it, about a month or so, it has brought shows to my attention that otherwise may have gone unnoticed. i honestly dont have time, or better yet dont remember, to check all my local places to check on upcoming concerts. problem solved! sign up for songkick, add your local clubs/venues and somehow through the marvels of technology/black magic wizardry you can choose to get an email every time that joint schedules a show. helpful, very helpful. what they do is aggregate 29 worldwide ticket vendors and then that info gets fed to your local joint’s page on songkick. i know, too much info. one other thing that is awesome/depressing is that it can track your past concerts. say, your like me, and saw dinosaur jr with my bloody valentine and babes in toyland at the metro back in 88, yeah its got that info too. from what i read their database goes back to 1960. check it out, and i think here is my profile if you want to get chummy – if that aint the right link, my user name is gregor. cant get to the site from work.. boo!
