warren zevon live at the record plant, sausalito 7/27/78

Wanted to put this up again, because it’s fantastic and there were a couple requests for it.

Happy Sunday afternoon. Always been a fan of Zevon. Listening to Excitable Boy as a kid got me started. As I became old enough to understand just how funny, disturbing and moving the lyrics were was when I realized the genius of Zevon. If you’ve never spent any time with his music, this is a great place to start.

Here’s a Warren Zevon show from The Record Plant in Sausalito in July of 1978. Some of his best included in this set and the recording does them justice. Apparently The Record Plant is a studio, though there’s definitely an audience on hand for this show. The beauty of live recordings, in my opinion, is not only the music but to imagine what it would have been like to be there. The thought of Sausalito in the 70′s, listening to Warren Zevon play during his prime in what I bet was a relatively small venue makes this one that much better.

Mohammed’s Radio
Excitable Boy
Werewolves of London

Oh Dear god, thank so much for this live show! Thank you!
I love the way Zevon says “freddy get ready” on Johnny Strikes Up the Band, also I always found a lot of those type of tunes sorta influenced or perhaps in my humble opinion over-influenced by the 80s kind of borderline instrumentation or choice or whatever but it dosnt come off too bad in these recordings, and also who cares, its such a good glimps, thats why, thank you for this little show, really made my day!
