ut

i was actually attempting to make a top 20 this year, but as it turns out i have really only spent the year listening to 5-6 records, religiously. sure there’s a lot of good-great stuff out this year, but not much has held my attention past a few listens. there are two records though that really to my ears are minor classics, and are battling it out for the number 1 spot. should have my list compiled by early next week, i hope.

in other news, here are a few uncle tupelo demos that were once on tape that goes by the name of colorblind and rhymeless. sadly, up until last night, i didnt even know this existed. second time in a week, see the hip demos, that something like this had escaped my consciousness for far too long. and i call myself a completest….

1. before i break
2. i got drunk
3. screen door
4. blues die hard
5. pickle river

I know exactly what you mean about it not being an exceptional year for music. I usually like to start with over 20 albums and whittle my list down to 18 or so. At this point I’m adding albums on just to make it up to 15, and feverishly downloading stuff last minute to try to add to the list- I feel like I’m cramming for an exam or something. By listening to the new Isis album.

I agree. There were a few things I really liked but there was a lot stuff that while I recognized was good, didn’t really captivate me much as far as frequent listens are concerned.
