think of a number, divide it by two

i’m addicted to these…

hope everyone had a grand weeks end. we got back from columbia in one piece, barely. we hit the atlanta area last evening and it was like jeebus decided to take one of his epic beer pisses all over the area. it was pretty hairy, and white knuckled for about an hour or so. i love the assholes that decide that its still a great idea to go 70 when there’s standing water all over the place and visibility is almost zero. its always the biggest piece of shit cars and/or jacked up dodge rams that drive in such a manner. anyway, columbia is actually a cool little town and are lookin forward to the move after said visit. pretty easy to navigate, which after coming from atlanta is a going to be a welcome change. grid system, hello! or at least columbia has something that resembles a grid system.

all praise to stv for sending this gem of a cover my way. it’s living colour doing tracy chapman’s “talkin bout a revolution,” which if you need to hear if you havent thus far – the chapman version that is. this version is pretty great too…

talkin bout a revolution

here’s a bunch of stuff that has piqued my interest, but have yet to listen to – unless noted. mostly due to the fact that i cant download mp3s from work and my free time at home is becoming close to nil. so, if there’s anything here that any of you dig let me know and i will find the time to check em out.

the honey clouds, who i have mentioned, before are in the studio at the moment working on what i assume would be a new record. if ya are into, and who really isn’t really, the likes of pavement, the fall, wire, and good ol fashioned fractured pop songs then you could do much, much worse than the honey clouds.

nathan bell (lungfish, human bell) is releasing an ep of banjo instrumentals which were recorded at baltimore’s 2640. according to the release this space is supposedly “spooky.” is anyone familiar with 2640 and why is it spooky?

runaway horse

straight up! is offering up their new record Q for free and while this is really nothing new, the dude looks kinda like steve west from pavement and the girl looks kinda cute. so, i will give em the benefit of the doubt. the only catch is that only one track a week is being posted, thus you must visit their site from time to time if you want the whole she-bang. lets be honest, you got 8 hours to kill.

danger

if your from arizona, you may be familiar with the tractor pull divas. they recently were invited by robin wilson, gin blossoms, to record some a few tracks at his studio. which in turn, the members of tractor pull divas told mr wilson to go to hell. apparently, they worked out their differences because a few of the tracks from that session ended up on their love songs for (insert your name here) ep. its out now and available via itunes for $4.95.

its not going to kill me

2640 is spooky because it's a run-down, dank former church sanctuary, with peeling paint and decaying mortar…
