top of the early afternoon, late morning to y’all. may or may not have noticed but up over there to the left, but captains dead is now in the “presenting” game. yep, im presenting two shows here in new orleans. first being the soulsavers w/ mark lanegan on friday, 9.18 and then those darlins on friday, oct 2. both shows are at one eyed jacks and are $15 and $7, respectively. i’d be lying if i didnt admit to being a little proud of what i have accomplished here especially since its been primarily just me the past 4 years. of course smangs helped out for about a month, but she couldnt cut it. anyway, just patting myself on the back. dont mind me… but really captains dead wouldnt be what it is without you all. so, thank you…
i covered the duo the sky drops a ways back, so far back that i dont remember when, but i do remember them. they finally have a debut to call their own which was released back on 8.11 and they have entitled, bourgeois beat. i’ve listened to their first single from said record about a dozen times in the past 24 hours, and there is an influence here that is pretty heavy, but i cant seem to make it out. i do know that its decidedly something from the early to mid 90′s. definitely diggin it, whatever or whoever it is….
