afternoon, y’all. so far 08 is turning out to be a pretty good year in terms of the number of great releases. here be a couple that will definitely end up near the top of my end the year list.

if you haven’t been witness to the mountain goats, your life is not complete.

sax rohmer #1 off heretic pride

lovecraft in brooklyn (aesop rock remix) here is the accompanying sketch video for the remix

new monster avenue off get lonely

lions teeth off the sunset tree

palmcorder yanja off we shall all be healed

yeah, ian felice sounds like bob dylan and not kinda sounds like him, but it may as well be bob. with that out of the way the felice brothers’ newly released self titled record, simply put, is freakin great. its filled with everything i love in a record, hammonds, accordions, drunken sing-a-longs, etc which all add up to the equivalent of a sounding like a traveling revue show circa 1920. very, very cool stuff.

frankies gun!

wonderful life

The Felice Brothers I think is one of the best bands to come out in years. I am glad to see that people are finally starting to take notice, it used to be hard to get their albums but not so much anymore. If you just dig good tunes check out The Felice Brothers.

i cant believe these guys flew under my radar as long as they did. never heard their other stuff, but this one is just splendid.

  3. Jesse says:

Ian Felice sounds like late-70s Keith Richards a whole lot more than the Dylan comparison

  4. gregor says:

really? hmmm, i dont know if i hear richards. maybe if you hear the whole record you may come around. either way still great stuff.
