imo the greatest no bullshit rock record to come out the last 10 years has to be the constantine’s shine a light. shine a light came out of the stands in left field and completely knocked me over the head and i didnt wake up for 6 months. if you have not heard it buy it today, like now.

here is a recording from a show in the 05 from lee’s palace in toronto. the quality is ok, but it gives a good idea of what their live show is all about.

i totally agree that the cons offer up some of the best rock ‘ n roll in canada – while other bands like the arcade fire and broken social scene get all the attention, this band rocks like no other in relative obscurity. But for me, THE constantines album is the debut with its slow burning intesity, rod stewart quotes and neo-fugazi-isms it bores its way into your skull. Each album is great in its own way but when i want to listen to this band, i put on the first record. O-V-E-R-D-O-S-E….sing it with me.
