grandma

top of the day, fools! the past week has been kind of weird, thus the silence. my grandma, who wasnt in the best of health, but still alive and kicking, passed away last week. so, in her honour, here is the clash bootleg rat patrol from fort bragg. she was a huge clash fan, in fact she was at the show when the iconic photo for london calling was shot. thats a lie, but sounds cool. that picture was from the last time i saw her, which was sadly 2 years ago at my brothers wedding. sucks cause we are headed up to chicago for a 2 week stint in just a few weeks.

    Greg,
So sorry about your Grandma; my thoughts are with you. I must say, though, that I laughed out loud when I read what you wrote about her and the Clash. I’m sure she would have appreciated it! Very cute pic, too. All my best.

  2. Dave says:

    My condolences, Greg.

    sorry for your loss –

when my grandma passed, one of my uncles brought me a ’64 vibra champ fender amp that belonged to her. I never even knew she played, much less electric. Seemed she did the AM station circuit on Saturdays in South Ga. with her cousins doing shows. I wish I could hear one of those sessions. I guess we don’t think that our older family members ever had a passion like we do for music.I’ve often wondered what music my parents or their parents would have been chasing down had technology been active decades ago. Elvis Hayride ’56 soundboard? Patsy Cline house show from ’61? When the time comes, my grandkids are going to find a harddrive with everything from GBV to Vic Chesnutt to Little Jimmy Scott. They will think I was crazy. Hopefully they will keep the chain going.
