morning, amigos! thanks for all the warm wishes and such. tis truly appreciated. sadly, my time to enjoy the wee child was short lived because i had to be back at work this weekend. my company doesnt offer any kind of paid maternity leave, for dads. to be fair, i could take unpaid leave or use vacation time, but neither of those options sound appealing at this point. btw, my company stresses family first. yeah… but again, thanks.

let me preface this by stating that i have seen two burlesque shows in my lifetime and neither of which left me feeling anything other than a tingling in the nether regions. so, can someone explain to me the appeal or all the critical praise for dita von whatevertherest is? i have seen some of her performances and calling them “amazing,” as some have, seems a wee bit of an overstatement. the latest i saw was a brief clip of her performing topless in a champagne glass with an ever classy cointreau logo draped in back of her, which, again, caused a shit load of b to c list celebs to gush over her like a squirt flick. until i get such praise for rubbing my junk in a vat of newcastle i will fail to recognize her to be nothing more than a chick that likes to show her tits a lot, as nice as they are.

more in depth posting will resume, tomorrow. in the mean time…

here is what i think is the last known nirvana recording which is commonly referred to as roma, which took place on 2.22.94.

i dont think ‘come as you are’ is working-

  2. gregor says:

    sorry bout that..it is now.

  3. Totz the Plaid says:

I’ve done a bit of research. They didn’t do “The Man Who Sold the World” at that show. Also, the improv is usually labelled “Demolition” but that doesn’t matter that much. Thanks for the recordings, all the ones I’ve collected from here, not just this one.

  4. Honest Abe says:

I thought part of the Family Leave Act was so both the father and mother could stay at home w/newborns? I think it’s B.S. your work can’t cover you for a week or two. Congrats on the new member to your family, thanks for continuing to share music during what must be a pretty hectic but joyful time.

  5. mike in va says:

congrats on being a dad. thanks for the show.

  6. Karel says:

I’m the same, cannot see the appeal of Dita. Seems a glorified strip show with “classy” trappings, giving it an air of respectability. Kinda like back in the mid seventies when a few stars turned out at the premiere of Deep Throat because it had become the trendy thing in town. God I sound like a prude. But I’m not! Actually, maybe we’re getting old and just don’t understand? Two years back, after the birth of my daughter, I found myself obsessively listening to Paul Simon’s “Father And Daughter”. And actually enjoying it. It’s all downhill from here amigo..

  7. SteveC says:

    Dita?

Since you are a new daddy, I probably shouldn’t even speak of this…but her popularity *might* be from the more hardcore stuff that she’s got out there.

    She’s quite the kinkster…

Not that there’s anything wrong with that…

  8. gregor says:

@ totz, thanks for the info
@ abe, yeah well i can actually take 12 weeks off, but unpaid. which at this juncture is kind of not an option. but, i was hoping for maybe one or two days of paid leave. sadly, i was mistaken.
@ karel, yeah i am no prude by any means, i just dont understand the appeal. considering i am sure her performances are expensive and when you can go to a strip club for like 20 bucks i just dont see the reasoning. i havent gotten into a song yet with her birth, but for my boy i listened to the tragically hip’s “put it off” constantly.
@ steve, yeah i have seen the works that you speak of and i do likey but she aint doing that kinky shit at her shows, or is she? then i can maybe understand the appeal.

  9. never to much Floyd!! says:

i thought the last show was 3-1-94. awsome show just the same.

  10. Amrk says:

Would massively appreciate a reup of this.
