if you happen to be in the new orleans area tomorrow or sat night, head on over to the blue nile and catch marco benevento’s jazz not jazz stylings. i had never heard of marco up until yesterday, but apparently eric at can you see the sunset likes him enough to say “Just imagine vince guaraldi playing with radiohead and you might start to understand what me not me sounds like.” i just may have to go out and pick up his latest, me not me.

the first night will be marco benevento & friends with kirk joseph, johnny vidacovich and stanton moore. it’ll be lots of free-form improvisation and clarence bucaro will be opening.

the second night will be the marco benevento trio with peter harris and stanton moore and will be drawing heavily from carco’s two solo records.
