man, i cannot wait for this, this being joe pug’s new record windfall which is due out on march 10. im as excited about this as i am about the new american aquarium… the great despiser, his last record, was one of my favorite records from 2012? actually i think burn.flicker.die just beat out the great despiser that year. i cannot recommend his entire catalogue enough…
happy saturday, i guess? this is off of one of my favorite records of 2012, strand of oaks’dark shores. sadly, i dont remember where it came in cause i lost about 8 months worth posts due to my former host bailing on me. either way, its a brilliant record. this particular version comes from strand of oaks’ darker shores which is different takes on some of the songs off dark shores.
top of the day! i am super psyched to bring y’all the world premiere of jeff zenter video for his song “fire in my bones,” off one of my favorite records of 2012, a season lost – which, obviously, i cant recommend enough. jeff’s music is much like walking/running through a southern gothic dreamscape that has no end, no beginning. i think this video perfectly depicts visually, what jeff creates sonically. a huge credit is due to the director ashlee elfman and julie pepin and sean leslie, the cinematographers. again, one of those been sitting on for a bit now records. i had listened to the first song off portland’s truckstop darlin’s hope and the heart it breaks a couple months back then got sidetracked by im sure one of the kids needing to eat or some bullshit like that – i kid of course. anyway, ive set aside time tonight to listen to a bunch of stuff as the kids are pre-occupied with minecraft and a few other things. so, this will be my first proper listen of said record. y’all probably know how i feel about remixes, and if you dont, ill lay it out simply, i usually hate em. the only remixes i like are public enemy remixes from the late 80’s – early 90’s. granted there are a few i like, but the majority, not so much. so, when i heard about a remix of probably my favorite song of the year “get me in room,” off my favorite record of the year no one knows what happens next, i had to check it out. its cool, i could do without the rapping, cause i dont think it necessarily fits, but i dig the beats.
i have known mr martin rivas for a lot of years, or at least it seems like it. we met via the wilco message board via chicago back when i visited on an almost unhealthy basis – which was about 7 years ago at this point. either way, i knew mart was a musician but never really bothered to check out his work. silly me, or more like lazy me.
