this would have been so freakin awesome to witness i must admit. this was, and still is, one of my absolute favorite songs. think i just may have to break out the temple of the dog record, which if you have never heard, i cannot recommend it enough.
Tags: band of horses, ben bridwell, pearl jam, temple of the dogmy very short review of infinite arms goes as follows: some will love it, some will hate it. im actually working on a real review for said record. so look for that in a few days. i believe you can grab it via itunes or you can order it in an array of different forms via their site. below the gaudy widget is the kcrw performance.

hey, want to win tix for two to coachella? all ya have to do is visit this link, which will take you to causecast dot org, sign up – which is free, and answer some questions to their inauguration quiz. sounds simple enough, i suppose. i havent participated, as of yet, but definitely plan on it…
i am still making up my mind on minny’s yer cronies and their record when i grow up. i am staying with em cause of this quote by mr ben rbidwell of band of horses:
“Upon my seeing my first Yer Cronies show I was convinced that this was the best new band in Minneapolis. Now finally getting to hear the record, I’m convinced they’re one of the best new bands anywhere. I love the way this sounds.”
there’s definitely something here that’s kept my interest, but there’s also something holdin back my love. as you may or may not be surprised by they kind of, at least musically, remind me of band of horses but with a flair for jazzy riffs, and throw in some fleet foxes for good measure. sounds like it should be a gay ol time, and it is, mostly, i think…

sup, tards? anything going on this weeks end? me? i got nothin, except a whole lot of studying and hopefully a few beers thrown in along the way.
been listening to the new grand archives record for the past couple of days and have had an interesting time with it, thus far. after spinning just the first couple of tracks i was kinda left feeling a little down, but as the album marched forward, the better it got. which, of course, is usually quite the opposite of most records. still, i am kinda iffy on the first few tracks, but as the listen count rings up, i am sure i will come around. maybe i was just unfairly wishing, hoping and expecting a band of horses type record, which its not. its more carissa’s wierd than boh, which is just fine with me.
their sub pop debut is landing on 2.19.08

i got an email a while back from a dear reader, that i accidentally deleted in a mass purging of my inbox, that recommended i check out seattle’s fleet foxes. or atleast i think someone emailed me about em. never mind my shitty memory, fleet foxes bring to mind 70′s am radio, if only i had ever heard 70′s am radio. so, i guess they sound like what i think it would sound like. now, they aint retro by any means, they just got this latter day vibe to em. they recently signed to sub pop and i think you can buy their full length and ep via their myspace page – i think. man, i have covered 3 sub pop bands in the past two days. i cant deny they put out quality stuff.

Tags: arcade fire, band of horses, fleet foxes, grand archives, sub popi listened to a lot of records this year, probably too many for my own damn good. i tend to obsess over records over extended periods of time. this personality defect doesn’t really lend itself well to giving other, obsessive worthy records the ability to firmly plant themselves into my brain. so, here are my 13 favorite, see most obsessed over, records of 2007.

anyone excited about the new season of project runway? not only do i love me some heidi klum, tim gunn is freakin awesome/hilarious. btw, it starts on wed, 11.14. take a look at this years cast. chris looks he’s going to be a real trouble maker or something.
my man, mike doughty, has a new record entitled golden delicious coming out on 2.18.08, which seems like a hella long way away. i mention this because last night, in chicago, he started his “the question jar show” tour. on this shortish tour he will take requests and answer any and all questions placed into the question jar. if anyone went to the show at schubas last night let me know how it was. even though there isnt an atlanta show, i am still curious. he plays tomorrow evening in louisville @ phoenix hall tavern. check his site for a list of dates. here is the first single from golden delicious.

andy ditzler is normally not my cup of tea, but there is something oddly endearing about him and his spoken word take on pop music. he kinda falls somewhere in between stephin merritt and ben folds, but more on the folds end of the spectrum. his songs are fun and smart, but not hokey like fun or pretentiously smart. check him out..

while i got you here, check out capgun coup’s “fucked.” pfork gushed all over it, or so i have been told, which doesnt mean anything to me, but its still a pretty cool tune.
both tracks are from their team love debut, brought to you by nebraskafish.

somewhere nestled in my top 5 favorite bands is superchunk. shit, i named my damn kid after mac – if that tells you anything. creepy? maybe. so, i was pretty damn psyched when this show from 93 showed up on dime. i dont know why, but i dont think i have ever come across a superchunk show. maybe i just dont hang in the right corners of the interwebs. if anyone has a hook up let me know.
here they are in krefeld, germany on 5.30.93
