sharon van etten’s for you

for some reason or another, i have never really talked about sharon van etten. i think i may have posted one song before, i cant remember. figured now we would be an appropriate time, seeing as she has a new record out called because i was in love, which was released last week via language of stone. i have only listened to it once, and that was over at mbv where they are streaming it in it’s entirety. initial reaction is that its lovely, quite lovely. musically, van etten doesnt tread any new ground outside of your typical singer/songwriter/folky fare, but when you have a voice as gorgeous as hers, she could sing me the diary of anne frank and i would get mildly aroused.
