if i were ever?to kick someone’s ass, the soundtrack to said ass whoppin would have to be rocket from the crypt’s scream dracula scream.? this is not a violent record by any means, but to me its the sound of struggling – i dont know really what that means but listen and?maybe you’ll pick up what i am putting down.? its?probably one of the best no bullshit, balls to the?wall rock records to come out in the past 20 years.??it walks a very thin tight rope between serious and?tounge in cheek, both they do very well.? it will not only make?you?want to raise your fists, but will also make you want to shake your ass.??resist any attempts at playing air saxophone?no matter how much you may want to.
born in?69???????
rocket from the crypt have disbanded, unfortunately, but you can check out the hot snakes, who have also disbanded, i believe -?and if you are feeling really adventurous check out drive like jehu.??i?cant remember are they related?

I’ve been on a John Reis kick of late. Mr. Reis rocks hard. For evidence see below: The Captain’s Dead blog has posted some Rocket From The Crypt… here. [IMG rocket from the crypt]

hmm..been hearing this name for years & never listened. born in 69 is great. might have to check out the record
for real? yeah you need to get with it. their whole catalogue is pretty great, imo.
Without a doubt thier best work. My wife and I got this record when it came out and to this day it still knocks me flat the same way it did the first time I played it. We caught them live a few times around this period and they were great. They are sadly missed…
very cool, darren. i was lucky to catch them twice and both shows were awesome. hopefully they get back together in some fashion soon.
A cool blast from the past. I bought this on the back of Born in ’69 and it proved to be a good choice.
I would recommend Young Livers and Ball Lightning as other highlights
I believe John Reis was in both Drive LIke Jehu and Rocket. RFTC were amazing live. Scream Dracula Scream is unfortunately import only these…or you could probably get it on eBay. I imagine the band will get the rights to the album back one day and re-issue is similarly to Circa Now.
Drive LIke Jehu’s drummer, Mark Trombino, is now probably best known now for producing Jimmy Eat World’s self-titled record from a few years back.
Thansk for posting these. I only have them on tape and definitely need Scream Dracula Scream on disc.
