sat. nite duets "collegiate metal freak"

Posted by doubter on Monday, April 23rd, 2012

milwaukee’s sat. nite duets make me feel like im at least 24 again, which i appreciate being on the wrong side of 30 and all. they harken back to an era in music that was/is my favorite, that would be the early to mid 90′s. also, life was easy as hell for me back then, thats why this kinda stuff always makes me feel good. either way, these guys have a new record out entitled summer of punishment, and its even better than their one nite only ep, which i was a huge fan of, which was put out a year or two ago.

the record is pure slack, and it comes across as not one single fuck was given. it seems to me that they put out a record that they would want to listen to, not what they think people would want to hear. dont mistake this aloofness for not giving a shit, cause its clearly they do, but its just not maybe the way you want em to. again, this record kind of reminds me during that time, and my mantra “whatever’s cool with me” – to steal a j mascis lyric. this may not make any sense at all, but if you listen to the record, it may. if youre a fan of pavement, silver jews, guided by voices, built to spill, and bands of the like you should absolutely love these guys. this is why i declaring it one of the best of 2012.

you can download the record, for free if youre cheap, or maybe purchase one of the various incarnations of the record they have up for sale via their bandcamp site.
