life aint fair – we all know that, and in fact it can be a downright son of a bitch from time to time, but we all keep trucking along. hey it beats the alternative, i suppose. i can only assume that no one knows about life’s uncertainties than richard buckner, who i consider to be my generations greatest contribution to music. sure i could argue that there are others that have added more to the musical landscape on a larger scale, but in terms of sheer body of work i would be hard pressed to name an artist’s catalogue that surpasses richards. with all that said here is a merge blog post, by richard, that pretty much is depressing as hell, at least to me. thanks to jason for bringing this to my attention…

in other, more uplifting, richard news, merge will be digitally re-issuing three of his out of print works; impasse, the hill and on 3.10 via the merge store.

for the love of christ, if you havent listened to him before, now’s your chance…

gauzy dress off bloomed
emily sparks off the hill
born into giving up off impasse

he’s going to do some touring and here is a few dates to start off. here’s his tour page.

3/19 Arlington, VA IOTA Club and Café
3/20 New York, NY Mercury Lounge
4/16 San Francisco, CA The Independent (seated)
4/17 Santa Cruz, CA The Crepe Place
4/19 Los Angeles, CA McCabes Guitar Shop
4/25 Seattle, WA Tractor Tavern (early)
