i have never heard of mr ray wylie hubbard, nor his music, but after laying eyes on that awesome album cover and then checking out some of the peoples that helped him put together his latest record, a. enlightenment b. endarkenment (hint: there is no c) i figured i’d better check him out. the song doesnt disappoint, at all, in fact i think i need to hear the whole thing. sometimes, a song may not disappoint, but doesnt necessarily lead to caring about hearing their entire record. he’s got an outlaw guitarslinger thing going on which is always welcome. apparently he’s got a film coming out? that was filmed and funded with and by kris kristofferson, dwight yoakam and lizzy caplan – sounds interesting enough. for those familiar with mr hubbard is any of his catalogue worth checkin out?

a. enlightenment b. endarkenment (hint: there is no c) is out next tuesday, 1.12.

Why yes, as a matter of fact, all of it.

We like 2007′s Growl. Worth the time.

Definitely worth checking out. 2005′s Delirium Tremolos is my favorite. Very dark, groovy album that contains a cut of my blog’s namesake song – you can download it over at my place.

RWH wrote “Up Against the Wall, Redneck Mother,” so that’s probably as good a case as any for hunting down his earlier work.

As a long time Jerry Jeff Walker fan, I know RWH from his writing Up Against the Wall, Redneck Mother, which, as has been mentioned, is RWH’s song. He had always been an interest in the background–lots of great songwriters ahve been covered by Jerry Jeff–but recently I’ve gotten more into him. I mainly know Growl, and let’s just say he’s not very interested in polishing rough edges. Which is good. will use this as a reason to get into him more!

Hey, if you are interested in Ray Wylie…one of my favorite artists, check the sampler I made a couple years ago to see if you dig it

One of the best artists around in my opinion
