patterson hood’s i understand now
i really dont need to tell you guys anything bout patterson hood, cause you already know and love him. his new record, murdering oscar (and other love songs), is out on the 23 of this month. been listening to it constantly over the past month or so, and as far as i am concerned other than some of the stuff on blessing, he’s definitely one of the best songwriters out today. preview a few of the tracks on his myspace page or grab the first single down below.
his tour starts in few days and joining hood will be brad morgan (drums), john neff (guitar/steel), scott danbom (keys/fiddle), will johnson (guitar) and david barbe (bass), who has not toured since his days with sugar. will johnson will open the shows.

I am absolutely loving this solo album. These guys were late bloomers by industry standard but they continue putting out pretty consistently great stuff. I pre-ordered the vinyl… first vinyl I’ve bought in 15 years or so.
yeah, man definitely love this. every dbt record has been a winner, except as i said, some if not most of blessing and a curse. not too sure what was going on when they made that, but its just really not good. i break it out from time to time, but overall it does very little for me. you going to see him at the metro?

I really want to go to the show on the 20th but I’m out of town. I saw DBT recently so I’m not too bummed but I think I’d rather see him with Will Johnson than DBT at this point. Would LOVE to see these new songs live. I saw him solo acoustic a few years ago at Fitzgeralds American Music fest and it stands as one of my concert highlights over the last 5 years or so.
