actually this isnt an email, but a promo i got in the mail, but “one random promo received in the mail” doesnt quite have the same ring. this promo i speak of is from the western new york musical collective the gifted children and their record, my museum pieces. first glance of the records cover, and even after a long stare, i was sure someone had sent me some super secret pollard project cause damn if it doesnt look eerily reminiscent of some pollard/gbv covers. i guess pollard doesnt hold the patent on collage like album art work after all. i was a wee disappointed i gotta admit, but after one listen of my museum pieces most of my initial disappointments were pushed aside. i say most, cause it still would’ve been super cool if it were a super secret pollard project.

umm, where to start and end, quickly? if you like mid-career gbv, you will like/really like/love this record. im not saying they’re ripping off gbv, by any means, but a lot of this stuff would fit nicely on king shit and the golden boys, bee thousand, propeller, and vampire on titus. im still digesting it all, but this is my initial, and limited, knee jerk reaction. after just a couple of listens, both of them being today, my museum pieces may end up in my top ten, or at very least top 20, of the year. im sure i’ll be talkin more about this in the near future.
