top of the morning, peoples. any of you see iron man this weekend? i did and it was every bit as awesome, if not more, than the trailer led me to believe it was going to be. i also happened to watch a little documentary called the king of kong: fistful of quarters. it helped me develop an even greater hatred for billy mitchell, who if you dont know is the only person to get a perfect score on pac man and btw he is a fucking asshole douchebag. i definitely recommend checking out both flicks, both for obviously different reasons.

hey, will oldham and his bonnie prince billy moniker has a new record, lie down in the light, coming out shortly on drag city. you can pre-order it here. here’s a demo of “so, everyone” which is on lie down in the light.

so, everyone (demo)

i really dug the first two clinic records, internal wrangler and walking with thee, but havent listened to anything since. mostly due to the fact that i heard they were crap. they got a new one coming out shortly entitled do it and i am really liking the single so i may have to check it out. anyone hear it as of yet?

as far as i am concerned there have been only two supergroups worth the weight of their collective egos. the first and probably the greatest being the traveling wilburys and second are these fine collection of men, golden smog. as i sit here i am trying to think of other supergroups and for the life of me, cant. probably better off that way. i know there has to be more, though. wasnt their some metal supergroup in the late 80’s that don dokken may have been apart of? lets not forget about the ted nugent and tommy shaw collaborative, damn yankees. yeah..

I saw this tour in Philly…The Geraldine Fibbers opened…first time Tweedy hung with Nels? First time the Jayhawks hung with the fiddler-girl, Jessy?
It was a sick show…and if there were 300 people there, it was a lot

yeah, i saw em on this tour too in chicago @ lounge ax. i wish i remember who opened, but i know the fibbers didnt open. the only time i saw the fibbers they were opening for urge overkill and while they were great guided by voices were supposed to open but the rumour was that they got kicked off cause a lot of people were coming for gbv and then leaving before urge. who knows if that was true.

This really made my day. I saw them on this tour in Madison, WI, at East End. Had some difficulty getting in, but it was well worth it. What a great show!!

seems like a lot of folks saw em on this tour, which after seeing them a few years later i would have to say that this era was their finest.

Thanx Captain…I miss the glory daze of Golden Smog…saw em a few glorious times during late 90’s, and then on their last tour, and it truly wasn’t near the same good time. This however is a great archival recording. But if I may, i’ll add just a mini audio-retentive note for the tweakers… i wanted to mention as long as the Smog covers are labeled, don’t slight the origins of track 4 as the Faces song ” Glad & Sorry” …a Ronnie Lane composition… Also while “Hanging On The Telephone” is most associated with Blondie, it’s interesting to note they themselves were covering a 1976 song by Jack Lee of The Nerves, a band that also featured Peter Case of future groups The Plimsouls, and Paul Collins of The (Paul Collins) Beat.

Cher U.K. opened the lounge ax show back in ‘96–they were dressed up as santa clauses and played really fast.
