anyone else have a sort of wanna love, but kinda get annoyed relationship with okkervil river? i love sheff’s grandiose lyrical outpourings, but damn if his voice doesn’t send me running for them hills. taking everything about the band that i dig into account it, one would think i wouldnt let something like a mildly irritating voice stand in my way of total and utter fandom? wrong! i just cant operate as such. still, i like em quite a bit, just in small doses.
they got a new 3 song cd ep out on the 4.21 which includes “pop lie” – off the stand ins, “millionaire” a stand ins/stage names orphan and a one man band version of “pop lie.” its out on jagjaguwar.
