new stuff from the wind whistles

oh my, talk about takin me back to my shitty little studio apartment on dearborn in chicago circa sometime in 1994/95. oh those your good times, the worries were few, the beer was cheap(er), the gut was flat, the lungs still in pretty good shape, my demeanor: shiny and i was listening to a lot of spinanes, lois, beat happening, mary lou lord and throwing muses. the record in question that’s taking me back is canadian outfit the wind whistles and their newly released lp, animals are people too. its a folky record but with enough tempered distortion to really not make it a folk record in the truest sense. animals are people too definitely reminds me of a combination of all the above mentioned bands/artists, but liza and tom, the duo behind the wind whistles, take all their collective awesomeness and dump into one record. definitely a top ten contender…
