new stuff from mark cutler

Posted by doubter on Friday, May 28th, 2010

getting back to the albums i am currently mildly obsessed with. as shitty of a writer as i am, i really do hate ending sentences with prepositions, but in this case im just gonna go with it. the album in question is mark cutler’s recently released red, which was released by our, meaning me, pal, mark, at 75 or less records.

to put in plainly, which is my style, mr cutler should be huge, and maybe/hopefully in some area and zip codes he is, but im talking like a house hold name huge. if not a household name, then maybe an every tenth household name. i have been a fan since all the way back in 1990 when i first heard his ex-band, the raindogs’ lost souls which stands today as one of my absolute favorite records. red only solidifies mr cutlers place, at least in my brain, as one of america’s greatest unearthed treasures. i apologize to mark if i am in any way downplaying his popularity. check out culture vulture time and his take on the record, and more importantly mark cutler, the man. its a very interesting piece.

riyl: springsteen, mellencamp, petty, steve earle, etc..

these two tracks were recorded at the 75 or less house in june of 09. the first one is off the record, the second, not so much
paycheck away
she’ll be killing you too

here’s two tracks off the raindogs’ lost souls
something wouldnt be the same
