i briefly wrote about athen’s madeline a year or so back, and at the time i said i would follow that brief post with a more extensive one. well, of course time has gotten away from me, and here we are now and madeline is about to release her very excellent white flag on 3.10. at the time i had only heard a few songs by said madeline and up until a few weeks ago i had kept on enjoying those few songs that are available through her site. her voice is as sweet as can be, but her lyrics belie a lady that dont take no shit, or at least she may lead you to believe that. regardless, white flag is a great little record that definitely is made even better by some grade a backing and guest musicians including claire and page campbell (hope for agoldensummer) on backing vocals, matt stoessel (south san gabriel) on pedal steel, and elephant 6′er john fernandes (olivia tremor control) on violin.
