its very rare that i get emails from folks in japan. in fact, i dont believe it ever has happened. so, when i got an email from said part of the world, i figured i would at least give it a listen. it didnt hurt that the email mentioned that the band had toured with mike watt. oh yeah, the band is called lite and they are from tokyo. they are an instrumental band, that when i first heard their song “ghost dance” they immediately reminded me of a heavier dianogah – who i used to be way into. my appreciation for instrumental stuff has deepened over the years, but its still a genre that is tough to make interesting, let alone warrant repeated listens. granted i havent heard their 08 release phantasia but going off these two tracks, me thinks i may have to track it down.
