howdy, all! strange thing happened last night that i feel that i should maybe make you aware of, and hopefully you wont almost get suckered as i did. i was on facebook last night playing mafia wars and was about to get off, but then a friend of mine who i hadnt talked to in a while initiated a chat. started off innocently enough with your typical niceties, but it turned when he stated that he was in london and that he was robbed at gun point and lost everything. i felt bad for him, but i thought it was a bit odd that he was contacting me, but again i was just thankful he was ok. this is where the conversation started throwing up red flags. he then asked for money, which i, again, thought was odd, but i was giving him the benefit of the doubt. he asked how much i could give him and i told him i could give him a hundred bucks, but i was very very clear that needed to be paid back, quickly. so i get his western union info and say im leaving. all he says is “bye,” not “thank you” or “i really appreciate this.” no, just “bye.” thats when it hit me that this was definitely not him. so i asked him a pretty simple question to verify his identity. of course the person couldnt answer it. saying he was stressed out and wasnt thinking straight, blah blah blah… now i fancy myself pretty internet savvy and if this could happen to me, well i dont know… just dont fall for it. i know i aint tell you folks anything, but i would be remiss if i didnt at least mention it.

i used to listen to lisa germano’s happiness and geek the girl quite a bit back in the mid 90’s. probably havent listened to either since, but they are both lovely records that if you are fan of 4ad released stuff or dreamy pop you will definitely love em. well, she’s got a new record coming out in september sometime called magic neighbor. here is the first single….
