off the top of my head thinking about younger artists, that is younger than myself, im looking at a more than a few to help carry me over into the new decade. that list would include, but in no way limited to, jason isbell, timothy showalter of strand of oaks, austin lucas, jill andrews, john gleason of roadside graves, a.a. bondy, bj barham of american aquarium, and justin townes earle. speaking on the man last on the list, if you have never seen him live you are seriously doing yourself a disservice cause the dude is quite the showman. when i mean showman, i mean he’s funny, engaging and just puts on an awesome show. shit steve’s his dad, and really the apple doesnt fall far from the tree. although, i much rather see a justin show, than a steve one at this point. thats not taking away from dad, but justin is the complete package, or at least he has the ability and talent to be. lets hope he stays the course… if for some reason you dont give a shit about him, at least do yourself a favor and listen to “mama’s eyes,” which in my very humble opinion is one of the best songs to come out the past 5-10 years. oh, for the record, rhythm and blues is in chattanooga, tn

buy a justin townes earle record via amazon which are priced ridiculously low…

Thanks for this one, Gregor. What a great show. I’m looking forward to seeing him, Jason Isbell and Brandi Carlile all on the same bill in a couple months here in Spokane. He just gets better and better, and while I’m a huge fan of his dad, I listen to Harlem River Blues a lot more than Steve’s latest, which I find a little…flat.
Also, I’m going to consult with my financial advisor (read: wife) about tossing some $$ your way. We need you to keep going, and all of us who enjoy your posts should be able to cough up enough. Best of luck, and many thanks for all you do. Sorry I don’t comment more.

hey eric, no worries re: the $$, i always find a way.. and i know what its like consulting with financial advisors, trust me. that sounds like its gonna be a great show. i actually saw earle open up for jason in atlanta a few years back, and both of em were freakin awesome. i liked harlem river blues, but for me my favorite is midnight at the movies. i havent been able to get into a senior earle record for a while now, which saddens me but his kid will do…

Thanks for this – what a nice recording – Saw Justin this past Saturday in Alexandria Virginis – Managed to video 7 songs from my seat – Ill post them on you tube this week – really good show – Justin and band were in fine form – and I couldnt agree more about Mama’s eyes – simply a great tune – the line ” I am my father’s sone, I’ve never known when to shut up…..” is just gold.
