ive totally slept on julie doiron’s recently released i can wonder what you did with your day. it was released back in march on jagjaguwar but for some reason i gave it my first spin today, and i am diggin it. then again, i like/love all her records, and she has released a few. she used to be in eric’s trip by the way. eric’s trip who, you ask? that track above is “blue” from this record, and was recorded for fader tv.

nice to see you give props to julie doiron. since moving to nova scotia i have seen eric’s trip and all its spin-offs (julie, rick white, elevator to hell, moonsocket, etc…) more than any other act out there. and it is never enough. eric’s trip is the best band to have ever graced this country. truely brilliant artists, all of them. especially rick white, who has also influenced the sadies in a big way lately.
this new julie album is fantastic – great to see her finally happy and singing it so.

PS: the cover is a painting by Jon Claytor, who has made the paintings and drawing fro almost all of julie’s albums and also for Gord Downie’s solo disc. those are my kids on the cover, btw.

Yes, she deserves the praise. Really delicate tunes, but compelling. She has something special.
