i cant believe what life’s done to me

admittedly, i have never thought much of the wrens’ second record secaucus, whether it be 1996 or 2006 i still think its kind of a mess. although, up until meadowlands was released in 03 i had not listened to secaucus since 96 – i still try to listen it from time to time but never make it all the way through. so, when meadowlands was released i didnt give it much thought. oddly enough, it was that damn pfork review that made me give the wrens a second shot. i had been burned too many times by pfork and their bullshit/nonsensical reviews, see ghost, that i had stopped paying them much credence. against my better judgement i plopped down my 15 bucks and self respect at reckless records. the meadowlands could possibly the soundtrack to the late twenty/early thirtysomething disenfranchised set. the record just screams of “what the fuck am i doing? is this really what its all about?” at least thats what i get from listening to it.
