haw

honestly, i dont know anything about hiss golden messenger. the only reason why i do know about this record, haw, which i believe was released yesterday is heather of mount moriah mentioned it yesterday on facebook. she sang the records praises, so i figured i would buy it. at this juncture, i am definitely not disappointed, but i am only about 4 songs into it. even as i look for information, it seems sparse, or maybe i am not looking in the right places? hiss golden messenger seems to be made up of m.c. taylor, scott hirsch and pals, according to their facebook page. either way, i am now about 7 songs in – i get sidetracked, and i am all about this record, but i keep coming back to the song “sufferer (love my conqueror) – freaking love it. sometimes you listen to something, like the brass bed record i wrote about yesterday, and it just hits you, hard. in between typing, i have been walking round my house, going outside having a smoke or two, all the while listening, and this is just phenomenal. this may end up my most half baked post ever. cannot recommend it enough.

buy haw via bandcamp or via amazon

Yes this is great. Last years Poor Moon release was my second fav of 2012 behind Lord Huron. Pick up Poor Moon as well. MC use to be front man for Court and Spark I do belive

I’m with Vermont Steve, you will be happy if you delve further into the HGM catalogue. Last year’s Poor Moon was also top of the list of my favorites and Haw is, clearly, anything but a let-down. I find myself returning to this record over and over again, finding it the only album that I’m really interested in at this moment.

hope all you ‘mericans had a lovely and safe 4th! here’s a band, midnight, that hailed from the southside, or south suburbs – country club hills, homewood and olympia fields all of which i spent plenty of time in, of chicago in the mid to late 1970’s. i’ve never heard their 1974 release, into the […]
