if you have told me three years ago that within a year i would have had a child, i would have told you to go fuck yourself. there was no way that either me or my wife were prepared to bear that kind of responsibility. we had just moved to atlanta and were ready and willing to set the town on fire, or at least drink ourselves into a some kind of barley and hops induced coma. as it would turn out, an excessive amount of barley and hops would be key ingredient that would help fuel the festival that would lead to a lifetime of joy and pain. sounding like a very well worn cliche, his birth was the greatest and worst day of my life. so, happy birthday to my little buddy, for he is two tomorrow.
take whatever i said about pavement in my previous post, and insert guided by voices and bee thousand into the appropriate areas, kind of like an indie rock mad-lib. here is a great recording of gbv back in 2000, january 1 to be exact, recorded live at the 40 watt club.
3. teenage fbi
5. alone, stinking and unafraid
7. zoo pie
10. dragons awake
11. pop zeus
12. dayton, ohio nineteen something and five
14. waved out
15. in stitches
16. tight globes
17. cut-out witch
18. gold heart mountaintop queen directory
19. game of pricks
20. mushroom art
in classic gbv fashion this is a show of epic proportions, and thus the remaining 25 tracks will be posted tomorrow evening.

A casual listener can tell that GBV lead singer Bob Pollard gets increasingly drunk during the course of the show. (We are talking about a man who drinks a 24 pack onstage.) If you’re a GBV fan you won’t mind. If you haven’t heard them

Great post. I look forward to the second half. Thank you.
Happy birthday, little guy! I took Emma to an outdoor GbV show when she was 3 1/2. After she learned how to say “mommy and daddy”, she learned to identify “John, Paul, George, and Ringo”. Not long after, she discovered she had another uncle, “Uncle Bob”. To this day, she asks when she can see “GBV” again.
thats very cool. we have been wanting to taken him to quite a few outdoor fests this summer with local bands and such and he just loves it. cant wait until i can take him to see a band i actually like.
