help save music in our schools

Posted by doubter on Thursday, April 13th, 2006

on april 18th the Fulton County school board, here in Georgia, will vote on whether or not to do away with music programs in 52 of their schools. i wish i knew what they were planning on putting in place of this vital piece to child growth. fo those that werent very athletic, not yours truly mind you, band and orchestra was a safe have for those to seek refuge and find a common bond with other kids. i was in band, but unfortunately my band teachers breath stank so bad i just had to quit. there is still no question that participating in band helped shaped the person i would grow up to be.

so, if you give a shit at all please send a letter to the school district heads by clicking here. thanks to tessa at drive a faster car for pointing it out.

thanks

Thanks for reposting. Unfortunately they’re not going to be putting anything in it’s place. They’ve just cut funding and the arts are always the first thing to go.
