i dont think i have ever met anyone who like(d) grandaddy. actually, i know a couple, but really its literally only like two people. i, sadly, never got to seem live. its hard for me to the judge or gauge what kind of impact they made on the musical landscape. it really doesnt matter at all, in the scheme of things, but still they are a bit of a wonderment to me. i love all their records, and still listen to them often. i just get the feeling that they didnt get their due admiration while they were together. if for some reason you have never checked em out, definitely give the sophtware slump and just like the fambly cat a listen.
buy some grandaddy stuff via amazon
what we have here is something i know very little about other than what i read here, and that tells me it was a cassette that was dropped off at the grandaddy gathering on 11.15.04 at troybobs in san francisco.

Huge fan of Grandaddy and Lytle’s solo album too. Sophtware always gets the raves but Sumday is even better in my opinion. Thanks for sharing this.
hey gregor,
thanks for posting this.
To me, these are some of Grandaddy’s most significant songs, but most people don’t know about them.
I saw them live when they toured with Saves the Day, strangely enough. I remember them sounding surprisingly good live. If I remember correctly, they used a projector for the whole performance and had all sorts of cool video.
I know a few people who love Grandaddy. Maybe I’m weird, but I like Sumday the best of their three albums. My kids even like “Stray Dog and the Chocolate Shake.” (Questionable parenting, or appropriate musical taste guidance? You make the call.)
