free record alert: riviera's watching western skies – limited time

there are a lot of bands that break, that shouldnt. i could rattle off at least 100+ just within the past 2 years, that were not worthy of your attention, no matter small it may be. then again, i can rattle off even more bands that are worthy of your attention, and thats the whole point of this little site. granted, music is all personal/subjective but ive been around long enough to see right through most of what is purely hype, and what is genuine. call it a gift, or call me a dick. whatever.

at one time, riviera hailed from chicago. now, me believes the are hailing from the lovely city of portland, oregon. makes no difference, really, just thought ya’ll would like to know. here’s a band thats been recording music since 2000, and have they “broke?” well, i guess that depends on what your definition of “broke” is? shit, they opened up for jeff tweedy before, thats gotta say something about em, right? damn straight it does! regardless, these guys should be an at least every 1000th house, household name by now. that doesnt sound like a lot but when you do the math, thats not too shabby. they got a new ep/record out entitled watching western skies and they were kind enough to let me give it away, for free, for a week or so. keep in mind you can buy the physical copy via cdbabdy for a measly 5 bucks. grab it while you can here, or there, either way just grab it! captains dead approved!

1. hopeless
2. sweet by & by
3. destiny
4. grizzly killers of wassilla
5. the last walk

Had previously purchased Riviera’s “The End Of The American Century”, and while I enjoyed it, it didn’t jump off the wall and throw it’s arms around me in an effort to get me to hit repeat. This EP sounds great and hopefully can get me more interested in this band, cuz this is the music I love. Anyway, thanks for the freebie!
