dean wareham plays galaxie 500 at primavera

by matt on December 5, 2011

One of my college roommates introduced me to Luna. Our copy of Bewitched was worn out in a matter of months. From there it was on to Penthouse and eventually I went all the way back to Galaxie 500. This was the start of a beautiful friendship with the music of Dean Wareham.

Been trying to get my hands on a decent live Luna show to share here, preferably one which includes “23 Minutes in Brussels” (video link) – which I consider to be one of the ten best songs ever put on tape – but nothing has sounded decent enough to offer up. In the meantime, here’s a show from 2011 of Dean playing Galaxie 500 songs at the Primavera Festival in Spain. There’s some gems here, with “Blue Thunder” and “Strange” being the highlights, in my opinion.

Enjoy.

I’ve always thought Galaxie’s cover of “Ceremony” is among the most sublime things I have ever heard in my life.
