primal scream live at glasgow barrowlands

One Comment Written by gregor on August 24, 2009 in fm broadcast, shows.

primal_scream

top of the mornin to you all. hope everyone had a lovely weeks end. mine was just fine… one of my favorite records of the 90’s is definitely primal scream’s vanshing point, and while i wouldnt put it as high as some of the classics that were born out of that decade, but definitely in my top 30. the record is a hot mess, but its a beautiful hot mess. if you’ve never heard it, it sounds as if the stones relied heavily on synthesizers, overdubs and samples. definitely worth checking out….

here is an fm broadcast of show from the glasgow barrowlands back in 98 that takes most of the setlist from said record.

1. out of the void
2. stuka
3. burning wheel
4. if they move kill em
5. rocks
6. star
7. come together
8. five years ahead of my time

bob

i know i am not telling most you pavement fans anything you dont already know, but outside bobby nastanovich’s musical life, which is limited now a days, he is very active in horse racing. while looking for pavement pics, i stumbled upon this picture of bobby which was attached to this semi-recent article about his involvement in the sport. fairly brief, but still an interesting read. i, by chance, ran into bobby @ arlington on my 30th birthday and i wish i can report that i played it cool, but i was pretty much a giddy fanboy. i dont think i was too over the top, but i didnt hide it very well either.

here is bobby and other guys playing @ melkweg, amsterdam, 2.3.94. its a fm broadcast.

all wrapped up

1. unfair
2. cut your hair
3. the green slide
4. heaven is a truck
5. stop breathing
6. hit the plane down
7. she believes
8. summer babe

will oldham on kusf, san francisco

2 Comments Written by gregor on March 18, 2009 in fm broadcast, video.

will-oldham

been listening to mr will oldham and his many monikers quite a bit lately. one thing i have come to realize about his music that i didnt when i started listening to him, many moons ago, is that while most of his songs sound absolutely dreadful and solemn they are actually quite uplifting, in a sense. just started to understand this about him and his work recently. anyone else get that same feeling?

here he is as will oldham performing on kusf-fm, san francisco on 10.8.98.

in rar format

1. song for the new breed
2. another day full of dread
3. ohio river boat song
4. three photographs
5. all babies
6. new gypsy
7. antagonism
8. marriage
9. nomadic revery

his most excellent, beware, was released yesterday via drag city.

here’s the video for “i am goodbye” which was directed by leif johnson, and edited by jennifer parsons.
