well, this is a bit of surprise, a welcome one in fact. eric matthews and richard davies have come together and recorded a new cardinal record which is called hymns, and is due out on jan 12, 2012. its their first since their masterful pop/rock/orchestration-heavy 1994 self title debut – which i am a huge fan of. i tried keeping up with both guys over the years, and both have released a bunch of records, most notably matthews’ debut its heavy in here, and davies’ telegraph – both incredible records and definitely worth seeking out. sadly, i cant find any of my davies records at the moment, but here is matthews’ “fanfare” off its heavy in here and the first single from hymns “love like rain.”
