    Listen to “Ambient 1: Music For Airports”. Then listen to “Thursday Afternoon”. Then listen again. It will take you somewehere else.

    If you like this set of recordings, I suggest going with his first three albums, Here Come the Warm Jets; Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy); and Another Green World. The ambient stuff is cool. Not everyone’s cup of tea. Wrong Way Up with John Cale is great too. That’s one of my favorite Eno projects.

    Apart from those suggested above, “Before and After Science” and “Another Day on Earth” are other fantastic Eno albums, G. If you can get your head around the substantial breadth and depth of Eno’s musical world, many treasures await. Enjoy your exploration and thanks for posting this.

    After you try the solo stuff, don’t miss his work on the first two Rxy Music records. Also He made a couple records with David Byrne that are worth checking out.

    So much amazing Eno: Lets see – first 2 Roxy Music albums: Roxy Music & For Your Pleasure. First 4 Brian Eno albums: Here Come the Warm Jets, Taking tiger mountain, Another Green World & Before and After Science. Some amzing collaorations – Eno & David Byrne – My Life in a bush of Ghosts, Talking Heads + Eno – Remain in Light, Phil Manzanera w/ Brian Eno – Diamond Head, Eno, Moebius, Roedelius – After the Heat. Eno and John Cale – Wrong way up, Live LP w/ Eno, J Cale, R, Wyatt, etc… called “June 1st, 1974″. Oh, later solo albums like Another Day on Earth & Nerve Net are good too. Cheers !

  7. Erik says:

    Whoa. I almost forgot the Bowie Eno albums: Heroes, Lodger & Low. Also my fav ambient album is On Land. (-;

    I was in the same boat until I watched Velvet Goldmine.

  10. Rob says:

    801 live is the most like this set of songs – amazing playing and singing from Eno, Manzanera, Simon Phillips etc. all the other recommendations are great but 801 live captures the raw energy and band interplay that is sometimes missing from the studio work. enjoy and thanks!
