if were talkin bout the best debuts to come out the past 10-15 years, black mountain’s 2005 debut would definitely have to be in my top ten, maybe even top 5. they sound like the reincarnation of some old black bluesman who died in 1929 and comes back obsessed with the velvet underground, royal trux and the stones. whatever they sound like, its a wonderful racket. ive dug all their records, but their debut is where its at for me.
