american aquarium's "rattlesnake"

Posted by doubter on Friday, May 28th, 2010

morning, all. the past month has been good for me, at least musically. actually, the other, larger, more important bits of my life havent been so bad either, not awesome, but yeah not bad either. on the music front, there are roughly 4 to 5, and maybe 6 records that i cannot get enough of. hopefully over the next few days i shall be briefly touching on said records. in the meantime, one of the them records is raleigh, north carolina’s american aquarium’s fifth studio record, small town hymns. here’s the thing that strikes me as odd; how are these guys on their fifth record and i am just now hearing about em? i can see maybe a record or two passing me by, but 4!? to add insult to injury, they played 227 shows in 2009, and i still hadn’t heard of em. i would think someone, somewhere wouldve made mention of em? maybe they did, and i just didnt pay attention. thats probably the case. you know me, all i am going to say about a record is that i love it, or am deeply in like with it. and in this case its the former. want to read a review and pick up on more of what these guys are laying down? head on over to frontporch musings for their take on it. they’ve also got a bunch of other tracks available for streaming. the track i am providing is also streaming only. so stream away…. btw, check out their site for upcoming shows, for which there are many.

riyl: whiskeytown, the maldives, drive by truckers, glossary, etc

BJ and the guys from American Aquarium are amazing…I have seen about 10 of there shows over the past 2.5 yrs, and have loved every minute of every one. Now if they would only come back up to the Philly area some time soon.
